Testimonials from vendors and buyers that have used Historics at Brooklands auctions and private treaty sales to buy or sell.
It was always going to be a difficult decision selling my Maserati, but an impulse buy at a previous Historics’ auction meant that I had to make some room. Negotiator Matt talked me through the process, arranged for my car to be collected from Devon. The marketing of the car was so professional, it had a double page spread in the catalogue and on the day of the auction, it was parked right next to the star car which was around eight times the value of mine! All quite unexpected and far more than I could have hoped for. All in all, my buying and selling experience was fantastic, I just wish I had more money and more space so I could attend every auction.
I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful service you have provided in selling my car. Mathew Priddy has been fantastic from start to finish and helpfully guided me through the process. He has the seemingly rare quality of following through on all of his suggestions or promises. My car was much cherished and selling it became a much more pleasurable experience because of this. The whole team were great and I would not hesitate in selling another car through yourselves or recommending Historics to a friend or colleague.
'I felt it was the right time to let someone else have fun with my car after many years of memories. The whole process was as simple as getting the car clean and dropped off to the venue. I was really surprised at how easy the process was despite venturing many times down the conventional route of advertising in the usual places and dealing with the public. An email to Brooklands Historic, a prompt return email with an appraisal followed by a phone call and a quick visit to view the car at my convenience. Once we had set an estimate and a reserve, it was a signature on a single form followed by some stunning photos taken by their photographer.
I decided not to be greedy and realised that interest from multiple buyers could lead to quick, multiple bids, especially when buyers are there on the day to buy and keen not to miss out. Price too high and bidders who may bid against each other will bid on something else. We successfully achieved 10% above the top end of our estimate! As long as there is enough interest, you understand there is a market price and that Brooklands’ negotiators know their beans, your car will sell'
"I have attended various Classic Car Auctions and purchased several cars both on line and in person, I must say the Historics at Brooklands has proved itself to be one of the best. Pleasant and helpful people and an interesting venue made it a great occasion."
"A big pat on the back for a great and very professional first auction by the Historics team. As a Brooklands trust member I am delighted at the partnership formed between yourselves and the museum. Thank you for your warm welcome, help and advice"
"The Auctioneers, Historics at Brooklands, couldn't have been more helpful or professional, the punters in the jam packed marquee were charming and there was much hearty backslapping and congratulation when the hammer fell on my winning bid."
"I am currently in the UK on business and visited your auction on the weekend of the 10th march. I thought I would drop a quick note to let you know what a thoroughly enjoyable day I experienced. The Auction was professional, friendly and well organised"
"Thank you for the auction sat march 9th I could not believe the high quality of cars on the day, and the professional way that you and your team ran the operation."
"The last auction was buzzing. I have missed the last couple of events but I have to say the whole air of this event was a step above previous experiences. The thought given to the positioning of vehicle makes, the general event arena and of course that great weather gave the whole experience a great feel. I was only sorry it generated so much interest! I will have to be prepared to dig deeper into the piggy bank."
Historics provided an excellent service. It was my first time selling a car at auction and Mathew was very helpful from the outset and made the process straightforward. I had a last minute mechanical hitch with my car and they were both helpful and flexible about the delivery. Payment was made promptly after the auction. I would definitely recommend them.
Mathew I wanted to say thank you very much for all your help and friendly assistance in the auction and sale of my 1967 Ford Mustang - you did a really great job
We all really enjoyed the auction day, the best day out for a long time.
Also, many thanks to you and your colleagues for making all the necessary arrangements.
I bought my Series 111 E-type through Brooklands via internet connection, although a nerve racking experience at the time it could not have gone more smoother, the staff at Brooklands assisted me with storage while I waited for import approval and transit to the docks, my car is now in Australia and I am very happy with it. I thank the Mathew Priddy at Brooklands for all his help and would not hesitate to do it all over again should I desire another classic.
Mathew, Anne and I found the process of arranging our sale of our Morgan 4/4 through Historics to be most professional. From your visit to photograph the vehicle through to the ease of checking the car in at Brooklands everything was trouble free.
We were delighted with the hammer price which I know was due to your pre marketing and compilation of our documentation.
I just want to congratulate you on your recent auction at Mercedes-Benz World. I have been to a number of other car auctions, but this seemed highly professional. The cars were well-presented and documented, and your staff were knowledgeable and friendly, so everything inspired confidence to buy.
Unfortunately I was outbid on the car I wanted!
Following Roger Peirson’s initial viewing advice and recommendation that contact should be made with yourself at Historics at Brooklands regarding the sale of my late brothers XK150 Jaguar. As executors my brother David and I would like to thank you again for all your assistance, advice and guidance regarding the disposal of this car. You were aware of our concern and “duty of care” in ensuring that the maximum market price was achieved to satisfy the family involvement and differing views on how matters should be dealt with. We were delighted with the result which can no longer be questioned.!! We both thought that the Auctioneer Fabian Hine, did an excellent job in working the audience to reach the achieved price, he obviously had very strong feelings about achieving the true value of this lovely well maintained car.
This was the first occasion that David and I had attended a car auction which we thoroughly enjoyed, it was interesting wandering around looking at the huge range of cars being sold and speaking to some of the purchasers as we departed. Many thanks again for all your continued assistance the transportation, remedial works required and the eventual sale of the car.
The story starts when I decided to sell my beloved 1966 MK1 1275 Mini Cooper S. I had no real clue as to the value of my car so I took advantage of the Historics Free Valuation, I found on Google. Having presented a brief eMail I was contacted by Matthew Priddy, a very pleasant chap, and during a relaxed conversation he proposed letting Historics auction the car for me. I was completely wet behind the ears as far auctions go but thanks to Historics the process was totally painless – (apart from a few butterflies on auction day). Historics gained brilliant worldwide media coverage including, in my case, a feature in the Sunday Telegraph (Also on-line). Great advice was also given as to where to pitch the guide / reserve price. “a figure you would not necessarily be happy with but would begrudgingly accept” had the desired affect of attracting in a lot of early bids. The car achieved a fantastic price after some frenzied bidding and I believe now resides in France.
Thank you again Historics
For anyone thinking of sending a classic car to auction, it can be a daunting prospect. I chose to go with Historics at Brooklands, and have been delighted with the results. On four seperate occasions, they have sold my rather eccentric and unusual cars. My contact, Mathew Priddy has travelled many miles to my home, advised, valued, and taken studio quality photos resulting in good results. His enthusiasm, knowledge and professional attitude have made the process a pleasure-- Well done Mathew and team, I'll be seeing you in the future.
Hello John, Tom and Michael, I just wanted to drop you guys a note to say thank you for all the help you provided me with the sale of my DeLorean in the June 6 auction last weekend.
Historics at Brooklands is a world class auction house, from the very first phone call I made, right through to the actual sale day, everything was done professionally, according to your commitments and as per plan. Tom, you are great photographer, we enjoyed taking the photos at dusk and still laugh about the session today, your final published photos were stunning and were seen all around the world. Michael, you did a fantastic job with the communications, receiving global coverage in just about every car magazine in the world, staggering really. John, you were an absolute pleasure to deal with, the phone always answered especially after hours and nothing was too much. So guys, great job, I will be your biggest advocate, keep up the good work and maintain your passion.
Many thanks, Historics, for shepherding my Bristol through your classic car auction at Brooklands. After transporting the car to the auction site to completing the sale on the day I didn’t have to do a thing. Historics handled everything most professionally in a friendly manner – and best of all were always available instantly on the phone to give advice.
I have no hesitation in recommending Historics to anyone selling a classic car, whether it be a Morris Minor or a Ferrari
Just a quick note to say THANK YOU to Mathew Priddy and the Team for all the help and advice this year on my Bentley purchase in August and my record breaking results on the sale of my 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Phaeton in November. From start to finish the professional team at Historics have made the hole process of buying and selling a great experience.
l would not hesitate to use your services again.
Now that the sale of my beloved 993 Targa is complete, I would like to formally record my thanks to all the Historics team but in particular to Mathew Priddy. Having never previously attended a car auction, I was unaware of the process, but my initial request online for a valuation resulted in Mathew visiting and explaining in detail how it worked. I had been unsure how best to sell my car, but going down the auction route turned what I thought might be a stressful experience into a positive and enjoyable one. Mathew's professionalism in answering my questions and providing reassurance on the details was exemplary. I needed flexibility as I was away when the car needed to be delivered to Brooklands - this was no problem. Lastly Mathew's valuation was spot on and the set up at Brooklands helped create an environment where my reserve price was met, and our farewells to the car could take place in a memorable setting. Thanks should also go to Emma for her brilliant photography, which presented the car at its best, and also to Dominic for his impromptu offer of a ride to the station after we had dropped off the car! Last and not least, all the Historics team that we met were friendly, approachable and had time to talk to us as individuals and not as a lot number in a catalogue - all very impressive.
