T-TIME AT HISTORICS

A 1925 Ford Model T Firetruck with film star fame comes to market

The 15 million Model-T Fords produced in the model’s 18-year history not only lit the touchpaper on personal mobility but became the launchpad for customisation, an example of which comes to auction with Historics on 16th July at Windsorview Lakes, Berkshire.

Aside from extreme examples (such as the Rev. Brandford Clarke’s 1922 mobile chapel, complete with organ and retractable steeple), the Model-T was a popular basis for US fire fighting in the 1920s.

Whilst this 1925 open cab Model-T fire truck offered by Historics doubtless played its part in quelling countless flames during its working life, it has recently performed in a far more glamorous capacity, featuring in the 2019 remake of the blockbuster movie, Dumbo.

Presented in flame red and gold livery reflecting the Fire Department of New York, the  Model T comes to sale with a huge complement of equipment, including hoses, ladders, search light, fire-fighting tools, water tank plus an additional, non-functioning wheeled pump designed to raise water from a hydrant in its day.

The fire truck’s striking looks are complimented by elegant wooden spoked artillery wheels,  whilst Chesterfield-style button-back seating graces the interior.

UK registered, this charming Model-T, fast approaching its 100th birthday,  has recently been given a clean bill of health by Model-T Ford specialists, Tuckett Brothers, and sports new front tyres, alternator, starter motor and a fresh MoT test certificate.

Enticingly, it is offered amongst a fine entry of 180 varied classics on 16th July at no reserve.  For full details and to register to bid, in-hall, by phone and online, see here
