Historics brings to market a rare Jaguar XJ-S HE Lynx Eventer that delivers the best of opposing worlds
Hastings coachbuilder Lynx solved the dilemma of combining electrifying performance with estate car convenience when in 1982 it introduced the Jaguar XJ-S Eventer shooting brake. Even today there are few cars that combine 155mph performance with the luggage capacity of a family estate. Indeed, with a 450-litre capacity the current V12 Ferrari GTC Lusso Coupé plays second fiddle to the Lynx by a very sizeable margin.
Registered new on 1st March 1988, this fine example comes to market at Historics’ major summer sale of 180 very varied classics at Windsorview Lakes, Berkshire on Saturday, 16th July.
Originality is one of the keys to this car’s desirability, as is the fact that it has evidently been extremely well cared for, and whilst in the current ownership of a private collector since 2015, it has been maintained and serviced regardless of cost. The regal paintwork, underbody condition and opulent cream leather interior show little sign of the car’s 30+ years.
One of 20 classic Jaguars spanning 63 years that are entered in the sale, this Jaguar XJ-S Lynx Eventer comes to market with a modest 80,600 miles on the odometer. Accompanying it to sale is a sizeable history file detailing previous owners, maintenance invoices, former MoT records, the UK registration document and many sundry receipts.
Unsurprisingly, this hand-built masterclass in luxury touring has attracted significant pre-sale attention and brisk bidding is anticipated at its estimate of £70,000-£90,000.
