A super rare Spyker comes to sale at Historics: Read all about it in Octane
There is frequently a fascinating story to tell behind the gestation of car marques, and up there amongst the best is that of Spyker, an example of which comes to sale at Historics’ anniversary sale on 18th July.
The legacy of Spyker’s trade as a Dutch aeroplane manufacturer serving World War 1 is stamped indelibly on its latter production of cars. Those influences are plain to see in the extraordinary 2012 Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 on sale at Historics anniversary auction on Saturday, 18th July.
The car’s name is as lavish as the attention to detail on the car itself. Its appeal as a true collector car is all the greater as this is just one of two right hand driver examples made, one of only 15 LM85 special edition models, and it has covered just 596 miles since new.
Few motoring journalists have driven a Spyker and so we were particularly delighted when James Elliott, the Editor of Octane magazine, accepted our invitation to get behind the wheel of the car for a feature in the build-up to the July sale, where it is offered at an very alluring estimate of £130,000-£160,000.
