Barnfind Jaguar XK150 has bespoke upgrade, giving the best of past and present

Introduced in 1957, the Jaguar XK150 became an enduring and immensely popular high performance sports tourer. In its four-year production span, some 9,300 roadster, fixedhead coupé and drophead coupés were produced.

It has always been a firm favourite at Historics auctions, and an early consignment to the 18th July sale is sure to attract plenty of attention…

The 1959 XK 150 Drophead Coupé on offer has been uprated to ‘S’ specification, with 265bhp underfoot. In this guise an XK150 of 1960 was capable of 135mph and acceleration from rest to 60mph in a brisk seven seconds. To put that in perspective, a 1960 Mini - with a following wind - could manage 73mph and reached 60mph in a less-than-spritely 26.5 seconds.

Languishing for many years in a barn, this XK150 was discovered fifteen years ago by the acknowledged XK specialist, Twyford Moors https://jagxk.com/ and rebuilt from top to bottom according to detailed specifications from the current owner and vendor.

Twyford Moors adopts the philosophy that cars are to be used. And hence the reason why its customers can choose a range of sympathetic upgrades to make the driving experience all the more enjoyable in modern day condition.

This XK150 is a great example. Aside from the 3.8 litre ‘S’ specification upgrade – with a ported and polished cylinder head, triple SU HD8 carburettors, an unleaded conversion and five-speed Getrag gearbox, the car features a full stainless steel exhaust system, aluminium radiator, Koni shock absorbers, power steering and four-pot caliper front disc brakes.

Matching the enticing mechanical specification is a magnificent fully re-trimmed tan interior including walnut dashboard and door cappings, with inertia reel belts.

Aside from the great specification, it’s the quality and the attention to detail that makes this timeless classic all the more so. All in all, it’s an enticing opportunity…
