Raced by Adrian Newey; ready for the road
A 1984 Jaguar D-Type Evocation that comes to sale with Historics on 21st September not only pays elegant homage to the world-beating, ultra-rare and spectacularly valuable works Jaguar D-Type racing car of the ‘50s, but it is also sprinkled with a little stardust of its won.
Exquisitely built with enormous professionalism and attention to detail by John Arnold’s Revival Motorsport company in Leicester, it is one of a very small number they created for ‘gentleman’ racers, embodying the true spirit and character of the original D-Type but with contemporary handling, reliability and durability.
Powered by a 300bhp, 4.2 litre straight-six fed through a five-speed Getrag gearbox, it promises exhilarating fun at the wheel on the open road following its original build as a track car. Most interestingly in this respect, it was raced by motorsport broadcaster Tony Jardine and Adrian Newey, the hugely celebrated FI designer, race engineer and aerodynamicist whose designs have won over 150 Grands Prix.
Here’s wonderful provenance connected to an exceptional well-made tribute to one of the greatest racing cars of all time, but at a fraction of the price.
