1961 ‘Flat Floor’ E-Type is a tempting treat to collectors
The holy grail of Jaguar E-Type ownership is the early ‘flat floor’ model. These wonderful classics account for less than 4% of E-Type production and so when they come to market, they are very much the centre of attention.
Consequently there has been a furore of interest in the 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster ‘Flat Floor’ that has been consigned to Historics September sale.
As if the car alone was not enough to attract aficionados and collectors, the fact that it is tantalisingly being offered at no reserve makes this all the more mouth-watering.
It’s well-known that on its release in March 1961 Enzo Ferrari dubbed the E-Type "the most beautiful car ever made", and despite nearly sixty years passing by since the first car left the production line, the E-Type Roadster’s flowing design has more than stood the test of time.
The example offered by Historics is presented with red coachwork and was originally shipped to Puerto Rico, although little is known of its history before being returned to the UK in late 2018 and UK-registered with its period plate.
Requiring restoration, examination of the car shows it to be in sound condition, and it most surely represents a rare and wonderful opportunity to acquire one of the finest classic icons of all time…and at no reserve.
