In February 2006, Porsche revealed the second generation 997 GT3, now commonly known as the 997.1 GT3. In addition to a new 3.6 litre flat-six engine, the vehicle featured 'zero lift' aerodynamics meaning the car creates only aerodynamic downforce and no grip-diminishing 'lift' upwards and away from the road surface. The vehicle made use of a modified, track oriented version of Porsche's active PASM suspension, making it the first of Porsche's RS or GT3 versions to feature an electronically adjustable suspension system. Also available was a navigation system and Porsche's 'Sports Chrono' gauge package. The GT3 has a 0-60mph time of just 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 193mph but Road and Track magazine were able to achieve a 0-60mph run in just 3.8 seconds when testing. Porsche's official test driver, Walter Röhrl, also completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife in seven minutes and 42 seconds with the 997 GT3 in 2006, an impressive time for the 911.
This iconic generation one 997 GT3 Comfort is coupled to a six-speed, manual transmission. First registered on 25th November 2006, this car is finished in metallic Basalt Black with full black leather interior and Alcantara seat inserts, door cards, steering wheel, gearknob and handbrake. It has covered a mere 46,585 miles and is offered in stunning condition throughout. Owned by a significant Porsche collector and enthusiast, this car is not wanting for specification with unmarked 19" GT3 alloy wheels, PCM 2.1 satellite navigation and telephone preparation, Sports Chrono Package Plus, PSE (Porsche Switchable Sports Exhaust), climate-controlled air conditioning, full leather/alcantara package, hard-backed sports seats, Sound Package Plus, on-board computer, PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), traction control, ABS, power steering, remote central locking and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm/immobiliser. Recent work completed on the car include a full suspension check and geometry set-up by Center Gravity, new engine mounts, a clutch and dual mass flywheel. This Porsche is supplied with two keys, the original service book, owner's manuals, supporting service invoices, previous MoT test certificates and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The ECU interrogation shows no ignitions in any of the six rev-ranges which is extremely rare for a GT3 and testament to a carefully driven car. This is a sublime car that drives like only one set-up by Center Gravity would, wonderfully. representing, in our opinion, one of the best value for money 997 GT3s currently for sale.
