The E46 BMW M3 was previewed at the German Motor Show in 1999 as a concept. Although, when manufactured, the actual car bore a very close resemblance when it was introduced in October 2000, the E46 M3 was only available as a two door coupé or convertible body style. It was available with the 3.2-litre (3246cc) S54 M-tuned engine. The M3's S54 engine had a redline of 8,000 rpm and as with most M engines, the S54 had six individual throttle bodies, in this case electronically operated (drive-by-wire throttle). With power going through either a six-speed Getrag gearbox or an SMG (sequential manual gearbox) drive logic transmission, the E46 M3 was full of electronic gadgetry, which included driver aids such as dynamic stability control, cornering brake control and a limited slip differential. With a reported top speed of 155mph and 0-60mph in a blistering 5.1 seconds, the M3 certainly lived up to its name and did not disappoint!
This superb example of the desirable E46 M3 Convertible was registered new on 5th May 2005 and is fitted with the 3246cc M Power straight-six engine mated to the desirable six speed manual gearbox. Showing a mere 54,599 miles on the odometer this example is finished in Individual specification (code 490) coachwork complemented with a cream leather interior upholstery. The M3 is fitted with a long list of factory options which include TV function, navigation system, park distance control, heated front seats, and electric folding mirrors. Offered to the open market in excellent condition throughout, the paintwork retains a deep shine and shows very few blemishes, as do the interior and convertible hood, both of which are in fine fettle. The M3 has been maintained to a very high standard with a service history from BMW main dealer and independent specialists through to its last service undertaken by DM Works BMW specialists in April 2023 at a cost of circa £750. Additionally, prior to sale the BMW has been treated to an annual service including a brake fluid change and a fresh MoT with no advisories, and is ready for the new owner to enjoy. Accompanying this fantastic example is a history file containing the original service and maintenance booklets, many sundry invoices, old MoT test certificates, the current UK registration document, and two keys. Ready to be enjoyed immediately by its new custodian this example is one of the best we have seen, and with summer on the way, we expect it will be keenly contested at auction. Consignor Daniel Godin
