The Chevrolet SSR (Super Sport Roadster) was a retractable hardtop convertible pick-up truck manufactured between 2003 and 2006. It featured retro styling and was based on the long wheelbase version of the Chevrolet Trail Blazer's platform. The SSR was powered by various engines during its production, including a 5.3 litre V8 and a 6.0 litre V8. The 2006 Chevrolet SSR was the final model year for this unique vehicle. It came with some notable features, such as a 6.0 litre V8 engine producing 395hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The engine was paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It was designed to combine the benefits of a sports car and a pick-up truck, providing a blend of performance and utility.
This very retro Chevrolet SSR 6.0 litre V8 has covered a mere 1,900 miles from new and is finished in non-metallic bright red with a contrasting black leather interior. It was first registered in new in the UK on 6th October 2006 and became part of a private collection for 12 years until 11th December 2018, being transported to be serviced and MoT’d annually and then returned to its dry heated storage until the following year. The 6.0 litre (Corvette C6 engine 400bhp) versions were built for less than 12 months and are a serious collector’s car. The extras include the electric folding roof that fully retracts behind the front seats, heated memory seats, climate control, cruise control, factory 19” chrome alloys, factory radio/CD, painted colour coded centre consul, electrically operated rear tail gate which has a solid tonneau load cover. It has factory side steps, detachable towbar, fully lined rear loading area with polished wood floor rails and SSR logo storage bags. In other words, this vehicle comes with every factory option when new. It has maintained a cult following among enthusiasts who appreciate its unique styling and blend of characteristics from different vehicle types. This must be the lowest mileage example in the UK, Europe and USA on the market today and would be almost impossible to repeat.
