The name CL stands for the German ‘Coupé Leicht’ or Coupé Light. The CL Class is based on the S Class full-size luxury car which was first known as the SEC and later S coupé. It was spun off into its own, current name in 1996. The CL continued to follow the same development cycle as the S, although riding on a shorter wheelbase and sharing the same engines albeit with less choice as only the higher-output power trains were offered. CL coupés come equipped with the very latest in Mercedes-Benz technology and, along with the S Class saloons, the CL coupés received all new technological features.
This luxury Mercedes gives S Class equipment with coupé looks and pillarless lines. Powered by a 5.5 litre V8, this epitome of German engineering presents immaculately in metallic silver with a black leather interior. Originally owned by Mercedes Stafford as a demonstrator this example was then sold on twice but with very little use with a mileage of 4,600 miles in September 2013 where it was resold by Mercedes Poole to our vendor. This CL has always been stored in an indoor car park when not in use and only been used for occasional long journeys. The history file for this low owner cruiser contains a full Mercedes-Benz service record prior to 2013, and since has been serviced with a Mercedes approved garage near Brooklands with 2022 being the only exception due to lack of use. A V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until June 2024 is also in the history file with what already represents a lot of car and future classic at a fraction of its original cost.
