The Jaguar XK150 was manufactured between 1957 and 1961 and despite having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one-piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and on the roadster, the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by a leather trimmed unit. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm. Either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified and the suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. These were high performance, well appointed sports touring cars and could cope with long distances with alacrity.

Originally manufactured as a left hand drive XK150 and with automatic transmission, this delightful Jaguar was repatriated to the UK in 1990. The last registered keeper has owned the car for the last 15 years and has lovingly cherished this fine example. He has had the car restored to a very high standard and it now presents in right hand drive format with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive has also been fitted. The 3.8 litre engine has been fully rebuilt, of which there is photographic evidence, the suspension has been rebuilt using polybushes and new ball joints have been fitted. The brakes have been upgraded using Coopercraft calipers and new discs have been fitted. The car was stripped to a bare shell and XSV 299 is now finished in Carmen Red with a Biscuit leather interior, additional gauges have tastily been fitted enhancing the already enchanting cockpit area of this XK150, as has a veneered wooden dash and a wood rimmed steering wheel. Supplied with a V5C registration document and an impressive history file, this is a Jaguar XK150 coupé that has had sympathetic, yet sensible upgrades and we are informed is a joy to drive. Viewing in person is recommended to appreciate the quality of this Jaguar.
