The C55 signified a return to AMG’s V8 roots, after barely a three-year flirtation with a supercharged V6. AMG found 8,100 homes for the C32, but the AMG engineers seemed much happier now that there was a serious, big-capacity, naturally aspirated 5.4 litre V8 powering the meatiest C-Class and the badge is there to, well, to ensure the owners don’t forget. It is not the performance, AMG claimed 5.2 seconds to 62mph for both C55 and C32, or even the transformation to a deep, wonderfully muscular exhaust note, but the makeover in the dynamics that stood the new sports saloon apart. The C55 marked a small, but perceptible, shift towards a sharper, more sporting focus, that set it closer to the M3 than any previous AMG hot-rod C-Class.
This example of this brute of a car is presented in silver with black leather interior and comes with electric heated front seats, sunroof, air conditioning with climate control. Specified with the ‘De-Badge’ option this car is the ultimate sleeper car looking much like a standard C class while hiding 362bhp. Also accompanying the car is its original service book showing frequent servicing at almost yearly intervals from 31st June 2005 to October 2019 before its registration in the UK in 2021 and has a certificate of mileage when exported from Japan. Since 2021 the car has been serviced annually with a B service by D&B Automotive a Mercedes specialist in April 2021, a service in March of 2022 and again in March of this year which included four new Pirelli P-Zero tyres and rear axle oil flush again by D&B Automotive. Our vendor has also had the correct mph instrument cluster fitted which is incredibly rare and a Pioneer head unit providing DAB, Apple Car play, hands free phone and uses the existing buttons on the steering wheel (original Mercedes unit comes with the car). With the values of the earlier Cosworth-inspired super sports Mercedes rocketing, this pure-blood AMG super saloon in the lightweight C-Class bodyshell is already a collectible Mercedes AMG, with blistering performance and that oh-so-inspiring and famous AMG V8 exhaust note. Offered with two keys, service booklet and full service records, a new MoT and tyres less fitted less than 1,000 miles ago in March this year. This true V8 AMG looks terrific value and without badges is a real sleeper.
