By the end of the 1980s, Rolls-Royce’s rebranding of Bentley which begun in 1982 with the launch of the Mulsanne Turbo had proved an outstanding success. However, the sales graph that had climbed steadily upwards until reaching a peak in 1989 only to plunge dramatically because of economic recession. Rolls-Royce responded by dropping the normally aspirated Mulsanne and Eight models and introduced the Brooklands in 1992. It was intended as a slightly cheaper alternative to the Bentley Turbo R, featuring the same styling and underpinnings of the Rolls-Royce 6.75 litre, V8 engine but without the more powerful model's turbocharger. It also retained the R’s sport suspension and adaptive damping control. First seen in the Continental R, the Brooklands’ new four speed automatic transmission boasted a floor-mounted shift lever, in keeping with the marques sporting traditions. The Brooklands continued Bentley's design theme which was also used on contemporary Rolls-Royce vehicles throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. The exterior design featured the classic Bentley grille as well as dual headlights with wrap-around parking lights. The interior remained relatively unchanged from previous Bentley models but with a more curvaceous design element surrounding the leather-wrapped centre console.
This very good, relatively low mileage, 1995 Bentley Brooklands was supplied by Hadley Green Garage, Barnet, Hertfordshire and was maintained by them for the first 32,000 miles up to 1997. It was then maintained by Straight Eight to 54,750 miles and last serviced by them in 2002. Then serviced by Stewart Walker in 2007 at 61,425 miles and again in 2011 at 63,688 miles. Purchased by the previous owner in 2000 who kept the car in his collection for nearly twenty-three years, it was purchased by the current owner and put into his collection of classic cars in Hampshire. Finished in Peacock Blue with a blue leather interior piped in magnolia, this lovely Bentley Brooklands is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in January 2024, a complete handbook pack including the service book and a set of blue over rugs. This Brooklands offers outstanding value for money given the eyewatering cost when new.
