- Very comprehensive history, including fully stamped service book
Since 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The 'R' resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950's as well as the Turbo R of the 1980's. Bentley's 1980's resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce products; however, the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque. Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one re-stated for the 1990's. Needless to say, the performance was outstanding, the combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting top speed to in excess of 150mph.
This truly immaculate Bentley Continental R is finished in Cobalt Blue metallic paintwork and defies the mileage listed on its odometer, in essence the condition of the car is comparable with a car having covered a third of the 98,000 miles. The interior presents in Silverstone hide with a blue top roll and contrasting dark blue underside, dark blue carpets with unmarked dark blue lambswool over rugs and rear seat cushion, an upgraded Hi-Fi sat nav system and rear parking sensors. The car is also a 1998 year model first registered in 1997 thus benefitting from the later refinements. This is a fine example and a well-cared for motor car with a comprehensive service history, including fully stamped service booklet and owner’s manual, and three sets of keys including the chauffeur’s key. the car has been maintained by Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialists, Ranmore (formerly Royce engineering) since 2006 and in recent years they have continued their maintenance for our vendor who has owned the car since late 2020. Just five previous keepers have experienced the luxury and power that is derived from the 6.75 litre Bentley power plant and given the condition most must have been in a straight line. This is a car that truly must be seen to be appreciated, very few Continental R’s we have offered are in this condition and can boast being such a colourway coupled to the desirability of being a late example of the marque.
