The Renault Clio Williams was launched in 1993 for rally homologation requirements, as a limited edition run of 3,800 cars, all individually numbered and just 390 were destined for UK shores. The original batch was almost twice the amount needed for homologation, but the cars were such a huge success that Renault went on to build a further two iterations, much to the dismay of the buyers of the original batch, but nearly 13,000 cars were produced in total. The Williams was powered by a two-litre 16v engine, producing some 148bhp, which was enough to take the car all the way to a limited 134mph. The Williams is easily identified by its bonnet bulge and muscular wheel arches, as well as gold-painted alloy wheels. Those who have been lucky enough to drive a Williams will know that the engine is spectacular, the handling is too, and the car is a serious contender for being one of the best hot hatches ever produced.
This example is a second iteration Williams 2, meaning it is presented in the original Williams shade of Sports Blue, the later Williams 3 cars were a slightly different shade. The car also has the addition of electric windows and mirrors but mechanically the car is exactly the same as the original Williams 1. This car has covered a modest 104,000 miles and presents in excellent order for its age. The values of these cars have increased significantly in the last decade and look to be showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. These cars offer useable power which can be enjoyed at all times yet still offer much lower running costs than their modern counterparts.
