The Triumph TR6 was produced between 1969 and 1976 and, by the time production ended in July 1976, it was the best-seller of the TR range. In total 94,619 TR6s were manufactured of which 86,249 were sold overseas and only 8,370 were sold in the UK. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the TR5, but the front and rear were squared off and all TR6s featured inline six-cylinder engines. The TR6 featured a four-speed manual transmission and an optional equipment overdrive unit was a desirable feature because it gave drivers close-gearing for spirited driving whilst remaining an excellent touring car for open motorways. It also featured independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, 15" wheels and tyres, pile carpet on the floors and boot, bucket seats and a full complement of instrumentation. Braking was provided by disc brakes at the front and rear drum brakes.
Originally registered on 25th May 1973 this genuine UK right hand drive example is still fitted with fuel injection. Restored a number of years ago, a testament to the quality of restoration is the fact this Triumph still presents very well today. Finished in Old English White with contrasting black interior, this TR6 sits proudly on wire wheels and benefits from a Mohair hood with tonneau cover and a stainless steel exhaust system. New fuel pumps and filters have recently been fitted along with a new clutch slave cylinder and boot carpet, a service was carried out 300 miles ago. Overdrive is fitted to the gearbox offering more comfortable cruising speed. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 11th August 2023 along with a significant history folder. Sensibly estimated, this is a great opportunity to own a wonderful British classic which is so much fun to drive.
