The Mercury Park Lane is a car that was produced by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company. The Park Lane became the flagship of the Mercury model line upon its introduction. For the 1964 model year, the Mercury Park Lane made its return as the Mercury Division expanded its model line. Coinciding with Mercury's 25th Anniversary, the Park Lane again topped the Mercury line above the Monterey and newly reintroduced Montclair. In contrast to the previous generation, the Park Lane used the same wheelbase as other Mercury lines, differing primarily in trim. For 1965, the chassis of full-sized Ford and Mercury cars were redesigned; the Mercury line was given a much more slab-sided appearance due to the popularity of the 1965 Lincoln Continental. The front grille continued to offer twin headlights in a recessed part of the grille. The retractable rear window was no longer available on the hardtop body and were now only available on the saloon bodystyle across all Mercury vehicles.
This fabulous Mercury has its original Ford ‘Owner card’ together with the original US title documents showing the car was registered in the state of Washington. It was shipped to the UK in 2011 and is registered with the DVLA, a UK V5C registration document is supplied. In July 2015 this Park Lane Convertible was featured in ‘Classic American’ magazine. This is one of only 2,546 Park Lane convertibles manufactured in 1966 and this is believed to be the only one in the UK with the 410ci ‘Marauder’ engine which is rated at 330bhp. This is a matching numbers example, with a high degree of originality. Finished in Ford Caspian Blue with matching blue interior, this is a delightfully handsome piece of classic American design. This Mercury has class, presence, fun and elegance all under the same umbrella, an exceptional car offered at a very realistic estimate.
