Unveiled at the March 1989 Geneva Motor Show, the new Mercedes-Benz R129 Series SL range was beautifully engineered. Based around a two-door monocoque bodyshell, its sophisticated, all-round independent suspension was augmented by a host of active and passive safety features including electronic stability control, ventilated ABS disc brakes, adaptive-damping shock absorbers, front airbags and an integral rollover bar that deployed in less than a third of a second if the car ever sensed an impending flip. Suitably cosseting, the convertible's impeccably built cabin included a fully automated power hood and featured such advancements as memory seats, electric windows/mirrors and an adjustable steering column. Yet lurking beneath all the luxury and refinement was a performance orientated sports car.

This superb example is presented in maroon with cream leather interior, both of which are in excellent condition. It comes with a very high specification including the factory hardtop. Offered in fantastic condition throughout the paintwork, interior and engine bay are all in fine fettle and we are told by the vendor that the car is a joy to drive. This lovely SL320 comes with its relevant booklets including the service book, many invoices for various services, maintenance bills, old MoT test certificates and the V5C registration document. A significant amount of money has been spent on this example during its life and as such it is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. In our opinion, the colour combination of this particular Mercedes-Benz is one of the most desirable and in this condition, with just 18,970 miles on the odometer it must make it one of the best available.
