The 1960's Airstream Globe Trotter is a classic caravan that captures the essence of the era's sleek and modern design. With its iconic silver exterior and minimalist yet functional interior, the Globe Trotter was a symbol of adventure and freedom on the open road. The Globe Trotter was a compact and lightweight trailer that could be towed by most mid-sized vehicles. Inside, the trailer featured a cosy living area with a comfortable sofa, a fully equipped kitchen, and a compact bathroom with a shower. The sleeping quarters were located at the front and rear of the trailer, and the beds were fitted with comfortable mattresses to ensure a good night's sleep. The trailer was also fitted with large panoramic windows, which provided stunning views of the great outdoors and allowed natural light to flood the interior.
Purchased by the current owner in 2020 who then set about a complete renovation and modernisation of the trailer during the pandemic. This started with fitting a new Euro tow hitch, axle and braking system. This trailer is easy to tow being only 16ft long with a total length including tow bar of 20ft. Whilst it looks small it is remarkably roomy inside with all the equipment you would expect in a high-end modern caravan and is capable of sleeping three adults comfortably. It has been set up so it can be used for wild camping with its own freshwater tank, grey water tank and solar panel charging. The layout consists of the front area dinette which makes into a single bed, then the kitchen area followed by side seating area which makes into a double bed and at the back end there is the bathroom with shower, cassette toilet, wash hand basin, heated towel rail and extraction system. Included in the specification is the new phenolic resin flooring, Alde, dual fuel hot water boiler for the central heating and hot water. 130 litre three way fridge with freezer box, a dual fuel four ring cooker with separate grill and oven with extractor, microwave oven, 80 litre water tank, onboard water pump and a remote barrel pump connection, 240 volt electrical sockets with circuit breakers, 12 volt system with fuses and a 100 watt solar panel. This Globe Trotter is supplied with Airstream registration, USA State of Maine registration plate (on rear of caravan), large file of historic Airstream paperwork, two sets of keys, appliance manuals, four corner stands and photographs of the restoration. Today, the 1960's Airstream Globe Trotter remains a sought-after classic caravan, loved by collectors and adventurers alike for its timeless design and enduring appeal.
