The BMW M3 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. The vehicle first entered production in 1986 and quickly became known for its high performance and excellent driving dynamics. The E46 generation of M3s was produced from 2000 to 2006 and was the third generation of the M3. The E46 generation was powered by the legendary S54 3.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine, which produced 343bhp and could boast a redline of 8000rpm. This power was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, or the optional SMG semi automatic. The E46 M3 was also equipped with several performance features, including a limited-slip differential, a variable-length intake manifold, larger brakes and improved suspension. The E46 M3 was praised for its handling and power, and it is still considered to be one of the best M3's ever made.
This particular example is fitted with the sought-after six-speed manual transmission and has been in the care of our vendor since 2004, meaning it has only had a total of two keepers throughout its whole life. The mileage is remarkably low too, still sitting beneath 40,000 miles, making it one of the perfect examples to either use every day, or tuck away as a longer-term investment. The car does have a small scuff on the near side corner of both the front and rear bumpers, but these should be quite easy to rectify. Given the exceptionally low mileage, the interior also presents wonderfully, with only minor wear on the gear knob and some light wear on the drivers seat bolster.
The service history is equally impressive, with all routine services having been carried out by BMW main dealers. The car comes to the sale with a fresh oil service, so it is ready for the lucky new owner to enjoy straight away. The VANOS system was also rebuilt in 2019, with the car having covered just over 4,000 miles since.
