This Ford Mustang Boss 302 is a striking example of the iconic American ‘pony car’, offered with one UK owner and benefitting from significant restoration and maintenance work. Powered by a naturally aspirated 302ci (5.0-litre) V8, producing around 290bhp, driven through the rear wheels via its four-speed manual transmission.

Sold new in May 1970 this example was originally finished in Medium Blue Metallic and has more recently been resprayed in the eye-catching hue of Grabber Blue, accented by black Boss decal stripes, as well as a satin black bonnet scoop, spoiler and rear panel, over a black leatherette-trimmed interior, offset by a wood-effect trim insert on the centre console. It rides on a correct set of 15-inch Magnum 500 chrome wheels, shod with Goodyear Polyglass GT tyres.

The factory specification includes a Hurst gear lever, heating and ventilation controls, hi-back bucket seats, an AM/FM stereo radio, a functional front spoiler, a rear boot spoiler, rear sport slats, quick ratio steering, power front disc brakes, an optional tachometer and trip odometer, as well as body-coloured racing mirrors.

The paintwork is reported to be in excellent condition following an extensive repaint. Inside, the cabin is presented in good condition, but given the car’s age there are various light blemishes throughout.

Recently treated to a differential rebuild by Andy Robinson Fabrications Limited in 2022. Other notable maintenance includes replacement seat covers and carpets. The history file that accompanies the Boss is the Ford information book, original build specification, Michigan certificate of title, a full Deluxe Marti report proving originality, and a spare wheel. The cherished registration ‘BFZ 8055’ is also included in the sale. Having been part of the current vendors private collection this example is ready to be enjoyed by its new custodian.
