The wizards of Affalterbach, creators of the AMG company in 1967 which became the official engine tuner for Mercedes-Benz in 1999. The Mercedes-Benz W221 was the chassis code of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the successor of the S-Class W220. The S-Class are the flagship vehicles of Mercedes-Benz and each generation typically introduces a range of technical innovations and developments that over time will find their way into smaller cars. The Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG, the most powerful top of the line S-Class model made, was even more appealing thanks to a series of subtle yet extremely effective fine-tuning measures, the performance saloon is even more striking and priceless than ever before. The updated technology is aimed at ensuring a more dynamic driving experience as well as optimum active and passive safety. Exclusivity and dynamism combined with effortless superiority and state of the art technology, the top S-Class model from Mercedes AMG embodies all these characteristics and more. The AMG six litre bi-turbo V12 engine of the S65 AMG delivers maximum power of 612hp and maximum torque of 1000 Nm, accelerating from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. The saloon is electronically limited to 250km/h. Despite no changes having been made to the engine data and performance values, it has still been possible to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to three percent. The S65 continued to use the five-speed gearbox, because it can handle the higher torque of the engine, as opposed to the seven-speed transmission.

This fabulous Mercedes-Benz epitomises luxury in every aspect. The Obsidian Black coachwork is unmarked with a deep rich shine and the Nappa black with cream, diamond stitched interior oozes luxury. Fire-up the engine on this 6.0 litre saloon and suddenly you realise this is the ultimate ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’. However this S65 is as happy sitting in traffic as it is powering down the Autobahn. With ergonomics that other manufacturers can only aspire to, this Mercedes-Benz is a delight to travel in, whether that is as a driver or passenger. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate, at the time of writing the service history has been misplaced. However, the condition is certainly commensurate with such a low mileage example. Available at a fraction of the price when new, taking into account the modest mileage, this appears to be exceptional value for money.
