The Corvette was built by the Chevrolet division of General Motors over six generations. The first model, a convertible, was designed by Harley Earl and introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept show car. The National Corvette Museum documents the car's worldwide history and hosts an annual event. The third generation Corvette, patterned after the Mako Shark II concept car, was introduced for the 1968 model year and lasted until 1982. The fourth generation Corvette was the first all-new Corvette since 1963 with production beginning on 3rd January 1983, and delivery to customers from March 1983. The C4 Corvette was known for its evolved, sleek and modern look and was also the first general production Corvette to have a glass hatchback for better storage access. It also had all new brakes with aluminium calipers. The Corvette C4 came standard with an electronic dashboard, with a digital liquid crystal display dash, with graphics for speed and RPM and digital displays for other important engine functions.

This example is one of the first 5000 built and comes with a sizeable history file. Amongst the file includes its first temporary vehicle permit from Biddle Chevrolet. The first owner registered the car under a business name. The second owners acquired the Corvette in 2003 at which point it was looked after by Seaview Chevrolet, Radley Automotive, and Hometown Garage, before being purchased by our vendor. In very good order throughout the paintwork presents very well as does the interior which looks superb, notably the dashboard is excellent with no cracks or broken parts, a common issue with this model. Recently the alloy wheels have been refurbished and are shod with good tyres. It has more recently had light recommissioning including new rocker cover seals, spark plugs, ignition leads, air filter, and throttle sensor. The vendor reports that the Corvette runs beautifully and is a pleasure to drive.

Included in the history file are many early invoices including works carried out by Biddle Chevrolet, Lee Johnson Chevrolet and Chuck Olson Chevrolet. It even comes with the original owners manual, maintenance schedule leaflets, original sales brochures, sales poster and original stereo. Also included are recent bills for maintenance work as well as the current UK registration document and a MoT test certificate valid until August 2022.
