Following the launch of the 911/996, Porsche launched the GT3, the first 996 variant intended for the racetrack. Its 3.6 litre engine was derived from the GT1 and delivered 360 horsepower at 7,200 rpm, offering 60 additional horsepower over the base 3.4 litre motor in the standard Carrera. It was also fitted with adjustable suspension and a unique body kit, including a dual-plane rear wing. The interior featured sports seats, whilst some of the interior trim was removed to keep weight down. Porsche also built a track only version of the GT3, dubbed the GT3 Clubsport. Only a handful of differences can be noted in comparison to the GT3, including the fitment of a full roll cage and a Nomex covered driver’s seat with side airbags omitted. Whilst not generally intended for daily driving, this edition was track-ready in every aspect and able to compete in a number of racing series worldwide.

Registered new on 19th October 2004 this wonderfully presented example has had just four former owners and has covered a mere 38,263 miles from new. Offered in metallic Basalt black over a black leather interior the paintwork and wheels are in excellent condition showing very few blemishes as is the interior which is in good order. The vendor reports that the 996 runs and drives as it should and is a joy to drive. Offered with a sizeable history file including a comprehensive service record, many old MoT records, sundry invoices, an MoT test certificate valid until August 2022, and the UK registration document. These cars are best described as a ‘wolf in sheep's clothing’ offering the flexibility of pottering around in traffic or enjoying the immense power available to your right foot.
