The manufacture of the Bentley Turbo R began in 1985 and, in total, 7230 units of this model were produced during its 12 year production period. The 'R' stood for 'Road-holding' to set it apart from its predecessor, the Mulsanne, courtesy of substantially stiffer anti-roll bar settings, a Panhard rod system and increased damping. Wider tyres on alloy wheels were also a first for a Bentley on the Turbo R, which looked great. The suspension changes transformed the soft ride of the Mulsanne into that of a real performer with the motoring press proclaiming this model to be more faithful to Bentley's racing pedigree. In 1995, a 'new' Turbo R was launched featuring, amongst other things, fuel injection. This contributed towards a mighty 385bhp output which resulted in terrific performance outpacing any smaller ‘hot hatch’ at that time!

This stunning long wheel base example of the Turbo R is presented in black with cream hide and boasts just one owner from its registration on 7th July 1993. Between 1993 and 1998 the car was used as his daily transport and the last service in June 1998 by Jack Barclay displayed a mileage of just 23,296. Shortly thereafter the car was stored in a specialist car storage facility as the owner had relocated overseas and used sporadically when the owner visited the UK. There is no paperwork between 1998 and February 2006 when the next invoice shows the mileage on a new odometer of 0098 shortly after its replacement. We are informed that the client only used the car in central London when visiting the UK and thus we believe the mileage is likely sub 30,000 and probably around 25-26,000 which is also indicated by those who have inspected the car, as well as the pristine condition of the interior which is almost ‘as new’. Between 2006 and 2008 the Chelsea Workshop cared for the car, but since then the car has remained unused in long term storage. To bring the car back into commission considerable work was carried out over the last 18 months to the engine and running gear by various engineers including Bentley specialists Hillier and Hill. With little predicted future use the vendor now wishes to pass this low mileage example to the next owner. Within the history file are numerous invoices and the original book pack, MoT certificates including current until September 2022 and UK V5C certificate. A low mileage, one owner car which will undoubtably attract significant interest from collectors and enthusiasts.
