  • Just four former keepers
  • Comprehensive history from 1992

Following the resounding success of the R107, the R129 Mercedes-Benz SL had a rather tough act to follow, as it still had to carry on the tradition of a fast and reliable grand touring convertible. The advantage designers had with the R129 was technology. By the time the final car rolled off the production line in 1989, these earlier models had been in production for 18 years with very little change. Therefore, the SL500 featured many new and innovative ideas, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi link rear axle. In addition to this was a fully operating electric roof, windows, door mirrors and seats, which made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The new SL also boasted a more powerful engine and the stopping power was aided by anti-locking braking for added reassurance.

This desirable UK supplied 500 SL V8 Roadster is presented in metallic Bornite with grey leather trim. This example has just four former keepers with the last two, father and son, equating to the last 20 years of ownership. The car presents very well and even boasts the original stereo should you wish to replace the more functional modern unit. The history file is extensive with invoices and MoT certificates dating back to 1992. A full book pack including comprehensively stamped service history is found in the history file with 21 inserts, 11 of which are main dealer and the most recent service in September 2020 at 51,193 miles. Offered with an MoT test certificate until July 2022 and with the private plate, this is a very desirable low mileage, low owner example a perfect appreciating modern classic.
