|Estimate||£69,000 - £75,000|
DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL, THIS LOT HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE AUCTION
This is a beautifully presented European specification 911L in Slate Grey with full red leather interior. The vehicle has recently received extensive recommissioning and refurbishment, with recent bills of over £25,000 to bring this superb car up to standard. This model is equipped with a 2.0 litre flat-six which we are informed performs faultlessly. The short wheelbase 911L was a limited-run car with just 499 understood to have been produced. The vehicle is supplied with a verification letter from Porsche GB confirming that the car was a European specification vehicle manufactured in June 1968, complete with the optional Koni dampers, halogen lamps and a leather steering wheel, before being delivered to Schmidt & Koch in Bremen Germany, where it was subsequently sold on 4th July 1968. Since being imported to the UK, the vehicle has reportedly spent much of its time in dry storage and has been in the hands of the most recent private keeper for nine years. Between 2012-2014 the vehicle underwent restoration which included floor pans and a bare metal body restoration. There is a photographic record of these works available.
The bodywork is now presented in excellent condition having undergone recent further refurbishment works along with retrimming and recommissioning in order to bring the car up to a superb standard. The Slate Grey paintwork was resprayed in late 2020 as part of the recommissioning work and it sits on a set of pristine 15” Fuchs-style alloy wheels which again were part of the recent restoration work. Inside, the cabin has been completely retrimmed including new red leather seats, door panels and carpets. The last routine maintenance was undertaken in January 2021 as part of the car’s recommissioning, a leaking oil pressure sensor was replaced, new fuel pump and ignition coil were fitted along with new rotor arms and caps, new leads, points, the carburettors were also overhauled. The vehicle is supplied with a fresh MoT test certificate. Accompanying the vehicle is an extensive folder of restoration invoices and the documentation from Porsche GB confirming the car’s original European specification. This Porsche 911L is a superb example of the marque.
