The Porsche 993 is the company's internal name for the version of the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between late 1993 and early 1998. Its discontinuation in 1998 marked the end of air-cooled Porsches. Like previous generations of the Porsche 911, there were several variants of the car manufactured, varying in body style, drive trains, and included equipment. The Carrera 4 S of 1996 and later 1997 Carrera S shared the Turbo model's bodyshell but housed the naturally aspirated Carrera engine in the rear. The 4S came with four-wheel drive and retained the Turbo model's larger brake discs with the characteristic red calipers. It could be described as a ‘Turbo without the turbochargers and rear wing’, whereas the S was in all aspects a standard Carrera underneath (the wider rear wings were compensated with 31mm wheel spacers. Both S models had slightly lowered suspension compared to standard Carrera models.
Originally supplied by Lancaster Bow and registered on 1st January 1997, this Porsche has been owned by the vendor since 3rd December 2007. The car has been lovingly cared for by him and all the previous owners with 18 stamps in the service book, the last being carried out on 4th November 2020 at 62,796 miles. The Arena Red coachwork is in good condition as is the Marble Grey interior. As can be expected for such a low mileage example, the entire external bodywork emits a deep glossy shine overall with all glass and lenses remaining clear and free from any cracks or crazing. The seats, door cards, switches, door cappings, dashboard and headlining are totally unmarked. Carpets and mats also remain in fine order. The engine started immediately when requested and ran smoothly, we are advised she drives with no known faults. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with an MoT test certificate valid until 18th October 2021 and the original service books. Having been used sparingly by the vendor, this 993 Carrera 2 S is arguably, one of the best ever Porsche 911’s produced, and even by today standards, certainly no slouch!
