The F355 effectively reforged the reputation of Ferrari’s V8 engine which had suffered since the introduction of the Ferrari Mondial with its four seats, well appointed interior and relatively soft ride; far too sensible to be a proper Ferrari. The F355 was cast in the mould of the Dino and just how great an advance it was can be gauged by its best time around Ferrari’s test track - three seconds faster than the formidable 512TR. Testing an F355 in 1994, Autocar achieved a top speed of 137mph with the 0-60mph dash covered in just 4.3 seconds. ‘The F355 is, we’re certain, a landmark car for Ferrari,’ declared the esteemed British Motoring Magazine.

This example was registered new on 5th August 1998 and is the highly desirable six-speed manual GTS model. Offered in its original colour combination of Rosso Corsa over crema leather interior with Bordeaux carpets, the Ferrari presents very well indeed showing a mere 26,400 miles on the odometer. The paintwork and interior are in very good order as are the alloy wheels which have recently been treated to a refurbishment by specialists. During the vendor’s ownership the car has been upgraded with a Tubi stainless steel exhaust system although the original catalytic converters are offered with the car and are stored in a correct Ferrari box.

Acquired by the current vendor some 15 years ago, the F355 has had just three private owners from new although the registration document records another owner due to the current vendor changing the logbook from his business to private address. The sizeable history file that accompanies the car includes Ferrari main dealer and independent specialist service records from 1999 through to 2012 when the car was showing 26,057 miles on the odometer. At this time the Ferrari was placed into a dry storage unit where it was started and exercised occasionally. In June 2021 the vendor recommissioned the Ferrari which included a major cambelt service, new battery, new bonnet and engine lid gas struts and a fresh MoT. The car is offered with the original Ferrari leather bound wallet with the full book pack, many invoices for maintenance and servicing, as well as an invoice for the clutch replacement. Also present is the original Ferrari toolkit, tyre inflation kit and car cover. This low mileage example is without question a very desirable car indeed and benefits from having the most sought after specification. A low mileage, manual, GTS, Ferrari F355 is hard to come by and this example should not be overlooked.
