Rolls-Royce Motors formed Mulliner Park Ward by the 1961 merger of two Rolls-Royce subsidiaries: Park Ward of Willesden, London, a Rolls-Royce subsidiary since 1939 and H. J. Mulliner & Co. of Chiswick, a Rolls-Royce subsidiary since 1959. Mulliner Park Ward continues to operate as the vehicle customisation division of Bentley Motors Limited, the successor of Rolls-Royce Motors. The Corniche was a development of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with the two-door variants of that model marketed as the ‘Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward,’ two-door fixedhead coupé and convertible, the very handsome coachwork designed by John Polwhele Blatchley. The model was assembled and finished in London at Mulliner Park Ward as continuation of the 1965 Silver Shadow coupé, the Corniche name was applied from 1971 for all two-door coupés and convertibles. The car used the standard Rolls-Royce V8, 6750cc engine, with an aluminium-silicon alloy block and aluminium cylinder heads with cast iron wet cylinder liners mated to a three-speed automatic transmission from General Motors.

This wonderful Corniche convertible has been in single family ownership from new and has covered circa 76,000 miles during its life. Offered in metallic Shell grey with a blue leather interior it is fitted with its original and rather rare wooden steering wheel and lambswool carpets. Presented in very original condition throughout, the paintwork is well although does show some signs of age, as does the interior which has a lovely original patina. Having been enjoyed through three generations the Rolls-Royce has been maintained where necessary and as such comes with a comprehensive history file detailing various maintenance work as well as the original Rolls-Royce service and maintenance booklets. Also accompanying the car is the original toolkit, spare wheel, and tonneau cover.

Recently this Rolls-Royce has been treated to various works including an extensive brake overhaul, a comprehensive service, a new air conditioning system and a fresh MoT. This extremely elegant time warp example is offered in a very desirable colour combination and is reported to run and drive very well indeed. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a comprehensive history folder, this is without doubt a car to put a smile on your face. Having been kept in such original order and with such history this Mulliner Park Ward convertible is exemplary and is offered to the open market for the first time since new.
