The Ford Escort was manufactured from 1968 to 2004 and was produced in six different model derivatives. The fourth version of the Ford Escort was launched in March 1986, with only a small number of changes over its predecessor. Optional new features included a mechanical anti‐lock braking system, a fuel computer on fuel-injected models and a heated windscreen. These changes were welcome at a time when the Escort was faced with a host of new competitors.

Supplied new in 1989 by Billingshurst Ford, the sales invoice shows that this Cabriolet was again sold by them to Mrs Strudwick of Billingshurst for the sum of £3,995 and it still retains the original number plates and rear sticker. It is presented in Azure blue coachwork which was repainted this year as part of a full recommissioning and included refurbishing the alloy wheels which were then reshod with new Yokohoma tyres. A new exhaust and a full service with new parts completed the job resulting in a car which is now in fabulous order throughout. Offered with a current MoT until December 2021 with two advisories; both of which have been addressed, the car is also supplied with two sets of keys and original radio codes and we are informed it drives without any mechanical issues. A great piece of 80’s/90’s nostalgia.
