GM planned to make the new generation C7 more aspirational to younger people. Towards that end, a camouflaged version of the car was made available in the popular video game Gran Turismo 5 in November 2012. As part of the marketing effort associated with the introduction of the new generation, the 2013 Indianapolis 500 also utilised a Corvette for the 12th time as its pace car. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette used an LT1 6.2 L V8 making 455bhp, Corvette resurrected the ‘Stingray’ name last used in 1976. Features of the new generation's structure included a carbon fibre hood and removable roof panel. At the rear of the car, the trademark round taillights changed to a more squarish form. The underbody panels are made of ‘carbon-nano’ composite and it made use of a new aluminium frame which located the four wheels an inch farther apart, front to rear and side to side.
This example of the 2015 Corvette Stingray is presented in white with contrasting full chocolate leather. It was purchased by the vendor on 1st March 2016, one of very few imported into the UK, and it is believed that it was first registered to the dealer before purchase. A rare and very desirable example, this 455bhp sports car has covered a mere 11,749 miles from new. Offered as part of a deceased estate, this Stingray has been predominantly stored in recent months and would benefit from a service; there are also a few body work blemishes – mainly car park scuffs - which could be fixed with relative ease; the alloy wheels could do with a light refurbishment and there are a few reflectors that would welcome being replaced.
One squirt of the throttle would propel this unmolested example to 60mph in just 4.2 seconds with the glorious note of the switchable exhaust. A car such as this is a rare sight on UK roads and we think is a desirable alternative to the usual run of the mill, modern European sports cars.
