- Used for Christian Dior window display at Harrods in 2019
- A real head turner
The London Taxi Company was a taxi design and manufacturing company based in Coventry, England. It formerly traded as London Taxis International and Carbodies. Over 130,000 London black cabs have been produced at the London Taxi Company's Coventry site over the past 60 years. Annual production averaged between 2,000 and 2,500 units per year. Around two-thirds of production goes into London via a dealership in Islington.
This particular example of this iconic British stalwart of motoring, which is synonymous with London, took centre stage in one of the window displays at Harrods for the Christian Dior collection and is currently still wrapped in the Dior livery from 2019. It is powered by the bullet proof 2.7 litre Nissan diesel engine mated to an automatic gearbox. All usual attributes associated with a London black cab are still present including its famous TAXI orange light which adorns the roof and is in working order. Great fun, practical and a real headturner in the Christian Dior colours and was previously owned by a Member of Parliament!
