With such distinguished stablemates as Isotta Fraschini, Hispano-Suiza, Cadillac, and Rolls-Royce, it is of little surprise that Alfa Romeo, right from their early days, formed an unbreakable bond with the illustrious Italian design firm, Pininfarina. One of its best sellers was the Spyder which began in the 1960’s until right into the 1990s with the Series 4. Leaving the factory in lefthand drive only, the most respected of all Alfa Romeo dealerships, Bell & Colville converted this over to the correct side. The S4 received better brakes, suspension and a limited slip differential from its S3 predecessor. The new fuel injected engine delivering greater refinement and increased fuel economy.

Showing just two previous owners, this example has been well looked after. In 2016, specialists, Alfaholics, installed a fast-road suspension kit with, the following year, a big-brake conversion kit. These upgrades reportedly transform the handling and stopping power of this car. Indeed, had Alfa produced an S5 then, very likely, these upgrades would have been included as standard. The original tonneau, hood and rear Perspex window are all in very good order including, as well, an MoT test certificate valid until February 2021. As the great JC once said (Clarkson not Christ), “you’re not a true classic car enthusiast until you’ve owned an Alfa.”
