Mercedes-Benz first introduced an SL model in 1954 following an original idea by American importer Max Hoffman who foresaw a market for a car tailored to affluent Americans in the booming post war United States. It has remained in production, in various guises and model years in the seven decades since then making the SL the second longest single series ever produced by the German manufacturer.

When this 500SL was purchased by the vendor in 2014 the odometer reading was 73,000 miles. In the six years he has owned this iconic sports tourer he has only added 800 miles to that total. During his tenure this V8 engined Mercedes has benefitted from new tyres, a new stainless steel exhaust system, work to the suspension and brakes and an engine service. Finished in metallic gold with matching factory hardtop and contrasting cloth upholstery, this car is described as being in excellent condition throughout. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, a fresh MoT test certificate and a service book showing a full Mercedes Benz history up to 63,000 miles together with a history file containing numerous other bills, previous MoT certificates and invoices. This is an opportunity to purchase the flagship model of the much loved R107 model and is offered at a realistic price.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
