The name CL stands for the German 'Coupé Leicht' or Coupé Light. The CL-Class is based on the S-Class full-size luxury car known at first as the SEC and later S coupé. It was spun off into its own, current name in 1996 and in 1997 for North American markets. The CL continued to follow the same development cycle as the S, although riding on a shorter wheelbase and sharing the same engines, albeit with less choice, as only the higher-output power trains were offered. The second generation CL or the W215 chassis coupé of 2000-2006 came in various guises with this example being the supercharged V8-powered CL55 AMG. It came equipped with the very latest in Mercedes-Benz technology and, along with the S-Class saloons; the CL coupés received all new technological features.

This example is presented in metallic silver with grey leather interior. It is luxuriously appointed as all these models are with electric front seats, air conditioning and electric sunroof to name a few of the standard factory options which were lavished upon this coupé. Powered by the forever smooth V8 and mated to the eponymous automatic gearbox, these really are the ‘fat cat’ of all coupés and offered without reserve this surely must be the one to have.
