The 987 was the second generation Boxster model, the most obvious styling change was to the headlights, which had a profile similar to those of the Carrera GT. Porsche claimed that the 987 Boxster shared only 20% of its components with its predecessor. On launch base engine was a 2.7 litre 236 bhp flat-six, with the Boxster S originally getting a 3.2 litre engine which in 2007 was revised featuring VarioCam upgraded to 3.4 litre and in 2008 the 987 was further facelifted and referred to as 987 Gen.II. This facelift featured greater power due to an increase in engine displacement and the incorporation of Direct Fuel Injection and was available with Porsche's new 7-speed Porsche PDK dual clutch gearbox. Use of DFI in the Boxster S raised the output of the 3.4 litre engine from 295 bhp to 310 bhp.

Described as being in near showroom condition, this stunning example was specified when new to mimic the RS60 special edition 987 which was produced as a nod to Porsche's 1960 racing colours of metallic GT silver with full Carrera red leather trim and matching hood. The car was carefully sourced after an extensive search by the vendor on behalf of his late father who required a PDK variant to replace his beloved manual 986 with purchase taking place in October 2018. It has covered very few miles recently, only being used sparingly between being kept warm in a private garage with interior cover for additional protection. Sadly, the vendor can no longer justify keeping the car and it needs a new home.

As per the RS60, this car is sat on 19" SportDesign wheels and was meticulously and professionally prepared prior to purchase, with a complete service and full machine polish at an independent specialist. The important crossover pipes were also recently replaced by Paragon Porsche in September 2018, invoices for which can be found within the history file. We are informed the car drives fabulously on the odd occasion it is taken out and it passed its last MoT with no advisories and is valid until November 2020. This completely unmodified Porsche specified from new with over £12,000 of optional extras comes with two keys, heated seats and BOSE sound system and presents in showroom condition. If you like the style and the heritage of the RS60 or simply like the unique look of this configuration you will not be disappointed in this great example.
