Lot 289 - 1986 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Roadster
|Sold - £10,000
Built between 1971 and 1989, the Mercedes-Benz R107 SL is a well and truly established member of the classic car club. These distinctive convertibles have classic styling and timeless Mercedes-Benz design cues. Legendary German build quality makes this model one of the most usable modern classics money can buy. A good example with an original factory hardtop will give year-round driving. The most popular of these are often the larger engine variants offering the Mercedes-Benz V8 which even today performs well in modern road conditions.
Presented in the attractive colour combination of light gold with a chocolate brown hardtop and full soft leather trim, this desirable SL500 variant with the Mercedes-Benz V8 power unit, has been dry stored for the last 12 years with very little use. Comprehensively serviced with 18 stamps in the original service book to 131,704 miles, this example has been recently serviced and benefits from a new MoT test certificate. This car looks every part the well cared-for example and it is offered with the full book pack, original radio, V5 registration document and previous MoT test certificates, coupled to two keys and the excellent winter hardtop. A lovely and cost effective classic, the 500 SL is the variant to own with prices seemingly ever-increasing year on year, with this, a very well-priced example. Possibly the safest investment, attached to the enjoyment that only a topless SL 500 can offer.
