The Mercedes-Benz W126 is a series of S-Class automobiles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz between 1979 and 1992. Premiering in September 1979 as the successor to the W116 line, the W126 was the second generation to officially bear that prestigious designation, an abbreviation for the German Sonderklasse or ‘special class’. It introduced many Mercedes-Benz safety innovations including the first seatbelt pretensioners. The W126 was initially offered with straight-six, V8 and a turbocharged diesel engines for the saloon.
This excellent 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE saloon has had only three owners and is believed to have covered a mere 23,500 miles from new. The first owner, who had the car until 2013, ordered it to a rare and very high specification which included the more economical five-speed manual gearbox, front and rear parking sensors, electric sunroof, leather steering wheel and gear knob, electric steering column, front seats are electric and heated with lumbar support both sides, heated rear seats, electric rear sun blind, rear reading lamps, illuminated vanity mirrors, headlight wash/wipe and ASD anti-skid system. The car is finished in metallic Smoke Silver Metallic with Mushroom leather interior and walnut veneer. The second owner, a good friend of the first, sold the car in 2017 to the third owner, one of his clients. This example has clearly been cherished and sparingly used, it is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in January 2021 and a handbook. It has been described by the seller as being outstanding, drives like new, one of the best of its kind on the market today.
