Gerry Francis made his first team debut for Queens Park Rangers against Liverpool in 1969. He was captain and central midfield player during the 1970s and was a key player in the QPR side which came close to winning their first-ever league title in 1976. He won 12 caps for the England team between 1974 and 1976 and was captain for eight of those matches. When, at the height of his career as England Captain and fast becoming a QPR legend, he purchased a white Triumph Stag with the registration WHM 990M, a car Gerry fondly remembers to this day but, like many famous footballers, the Stag was later sold. Fast forward to 2012 and returning from a friend's wedding, Gerry was surprised by his son with a gift of an identical white Triumph Stag, registered in 1976 when he was captain of England, the car presented here.

A stunning Stag in white with black trim, this example is in very good order throughout and starts and runs with that unmistakable Stag growl. Upon receiving the Stag in 2012, Gerry took the car to his mechanic to check the quality of his son's purchase and he was pleased to find it was indeed a great example both above and below the sill line. When reviewing the history file, this example has had a significant sums lavished on it in the years before, specifically with a Croydon-based specialist, Portman Cars. The maintenance included body work, suspension, brake overhauls and services dating back to 2008 and this year, Gerry has had a new battery and fuel pump fitted and the carburettors refurbished. The history file which is crammed full of invoices and the MoT test certificates are impressive, much like the car and current provenance.

With just 67,500 miles indicated, this represents the fabulous potential to own a car that is currently owned and loved by a true football legend. QPR, Tottenham and England fans alike are sure to be on the list of potential buyers and to that end Gerry has offered to supply a signed photograph of him with the car to support the cars ongoing provenance.

Interested parties should also note that this Triumph Stag has featured in rock band Lost Lady Luck's - Alieno music video and we have a short video with Gerry describing his Stag from the 70's and today seen below;
