Many a car enthusiast, at one time or another, has dreamt of owning a Porsche 911 and few have set the pulses racing like the poster car for the 80's generation than the 930 with its iconic whale tail accompanied by fabulous performance. Launched in 1984 and reviving the ‘Carrera' name for the first time since 1977, the most notable advance on the 80's Carrera was the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine; although it remained an air-cooled 'flat six', the 3.2 was 80% new. With 231bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974, a torque-rich 231bhp, enough to propel the lithe and slippery coupé to over 150mph with 0-60mph coming up in 5.6 seconds. All 3.2 Carreras feature galvanised bodies which, together with Porsche's legendary build quality, ensure that these classics are long lasting.
Presented in Ice White with the iconic 80's white centred Fuchs wheels, this 911 SC Convertible has seen significant recent expenditure in all the correct places by our vendor and private owner. Purchased with his son while reminiscing of the past, much time and effort has gone into ensuring the car drives and performs both well and reliably. Notably RSR Engineering, under 1,000 miles ago, were commissioned to rebuild the top end of the engine with new gaskets and seals, fit a new clutch kit, reset the cam timing, replace all corroded pipes and see to the brakes on the car. Invoices totalling £8,000 are present and detail the engine works, they are accompanied by some chassis work to the B pillars. Our vendor had the seats fully reupholstered and had a new hood fitted professionally, he ordered all new carpets which are all correctly sized and ready to be fitted by a new owner. The history file is packed full of invoices from specialists such as Camtune, Tognola Engineering and Porsche AFN Reading combined with almost every MoT test certificate dating back to 1988. Offered with an MoT test certificate valid until April 2020 with no advisories and original maintenance booklet, we are informed this car drives superbly.
