Lot 219 - 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster
|Odometer reading||129,000 miles|
|Result||Sold - £18,700|
The SL model has been part of the Mercedes-Benz line-up since 1954. The first generation of cars was completed in 1955 with the 190. The second generation began with the 230 in 1963 and was distinguished by its distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname ‘Pagoda top’. The factory codename for the SL launched in 1971 was R107. This model enjoyed an impressive build run until 1989, the second longest in the German manufacturers history. Over its eighteen year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines, two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of V8’s.
This lovely 300 SL example is presented in the wonderful colour combination of red with a black cloth interior and a black hood. Accompanying the car is the original factory hardtop and stand which is also in good condition. This car comes with electric windows, a new stainless steel exhaust, an MoT test certificate which expires in June 2020 and is ready to be enjoyed.
