Many a car enthusiast, at one time or another, has dreamt of owning a Porsche 911 and few have set the pulses racing like the poster car for the 80's generation than the 930 with the iconic whale tail accompanied by fabulous performance. The 3.2 Carrera is revered as the ultimate development of the original 911 that first appeared in 1963. Launched in 1984 and reviving the ‘Carrera' name for the first time since 1977, the most notable advance on the 80's Carrera was the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine; although it remained an air-cooled 'flat six', the 3.2 was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. With 231bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974, a torque rich 231bhp, enough to propel the lithe and slippery coupé to over 150mph with 0-60mph coming up in 5.6 seconds. All 3.2 Carreras feature galvanised bodies which, together with Porsche's legendary build quality, ensure that these classics are long lasting.
This 1998 example of Porsche's 911 Carrera is offered in Ice White with contrasting burgundy leather interior, with the desirable turbo wide body and the G50 gearbox. Benefitting from a new hood and mechanism, the cabin of this 911 is a well kept pleasant place to be. The wide-body coachwork is in very good order which, combined with a recent service and new clutch by Purely9, Hampshire, will give any potential new owner a great deal of confidence in this 80's sports car. Iconic in its appearance and very well presented, this example offered with a history file containing multiple maintenance invoices from throughout its history, showing a good level of maintenance, previous MoT test certificates and a valid MoT test certificate valid until June 2020. A white 930 cabriolet with wide body and whale tail is perhaps as classic as the 911 gets. This example is offered at a very sensible estimate and viewing is certainly recommended.
