Lot 132 - 1996 TVR Cerbera (4.2 litre)

Launched as a prototype in 1994, the Cerbera, with a name derived from the three headed dog in Greek mythology, was the company’s third vehicle created with Peter Wheeler in command. It was not only TVR’s first hardtop coupé design but it also came equipped with engines made by TVR themselves rather than the Rover and Ford engines of its predecessors. There were three different engine options available; a 4.2 and 4.5 litre, V8 in the earlier cars, followed by a 4.0 inline, six-cylinder in the later cars, all engine variants produced big torque power that gave the 90s sport coupé the British muscle car status. On top of the monstrous engines, the Cerbera was designed to be as light as possible, weighing in at a mere 1,100kg with no electronic driver aids, this meant it stayed true to TVR’s tradition of high power to weight performance.

This example is presented in black with a grey and red leather interior. These were exhilarating sports cars to drive with exciting looks to match, so the specification inside was commensurate of a car on a mission; it comes with air conditioning, electric windows, power steering and central locking. Its mighty 4.0 litre, V8 engine is mated to a five speed gearbox. For the majority of its life, this car was serviced and maintained by Brooklands TVR who provided eight service stamps at which point Hexham Horseless TVR agents and Peninsula TVR specialists provided a further three stamps until 2008. After this the car spent time in Belgium encompassing work by Extra Motorsport Engineering before returning to the UK. The last service was done in May of this year in the UK by NVS High Performance Servicing. In 1998, while with Brooklands TVR, the car underwent a documented odometer change at 17,017 miles which brings the total mileage covered to 45,150, documentation for this can be found within the history file. The car is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in March 2020, the original stamped service book and owner's handbook. This car is stunning to look at and a great British, 360bhp brute of a supercar. When new, the car was capable of 185mph top speed and 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds and now represents stunning value for money.
