First presented to the motoring press in May 1994, the F355 effectively re-forged the reputation of Ferrari’s V8 engine which had suffered since the introduction of the Ferrari Mondial with its four seats, well appointed interior and relatively soft ride, by far too sensible to be a proper Ferrari. The F355 was cast in the mould of the Dino, just how great an advance it was can been gauged by its best time around Ferraris test track, three seconds faster than the formidable 512TR. Despite its performance it was a modern car employing state of the art technology including computer controlled suspension, a light action clutch, proportional power steering and drivers air bag to make the car user friendly. At the heart of the F355 is the phenomenal 3.5 litre, V8 engine fitted with four cam shafts and five valves per cylinder, the layout borrowed from Ferrari’s Formula 1 engine, this remarkable unit produced, a claimed, 370bhp at 8,250rpm with 268ib/ft of torque available between 5,000 and 6,500rpm. Testing an F355 in 1994, Autocar achieved a top speed of 137mph with the 0-60mph dash covered in just 4.3 seconds. ‘The F355 is, we’re certain, a landmark car for Ferrari,’ declared the esteemed British Motoring Magazine.

This lefthand drive, 1998 Ferrari F355 GTS F1 was supplied new in Germany and came to the UK in the latter part of the following year. Finished in Rosso Corsa with black leather interior with red stitching, it was purchased by the current owner in 2001 from Graypaul Ferrari in Birmingham, since then it has been fully maintained, to a very high standard, by Mithril Racing Ltd, based at Goodwood Racing Circuit with the cambelts replaced in December 2018. In their care, it has been carefully used as a track experience car, with the 355 fitted with a rev. limiter and only driven under strict supervision. This Ferrari 355 GTS is fitted with the paddle shift gearbox and is in very good condition throughout. It is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in July 2020, the Mithril Racing Ltd internal service records and a complete handbook pack. This is an opportunity to purchase a very good 355 GTS which has been properly maintained and kept in top condition.
