Lot 272 - 1994 Porsche 968 Sport
|Result||Sold - £5,712|
- One of only 306, righthand drive, UK supplied 968 Sports
- A mechanically well cared for example
- Requires cosmetic restoration
The UK-only version called '968 Sport' was offered in 1994 and 1995, it formed part of the run of 1,923 968 ClubSports produced by Porsche in that period. Although badged as '968 Sports' in the UK, all are genuine 'ClubSports' with the luxury package option, which included electric front windows, rear seats, a sunroof and other ‘refinements’ such as cloth comfort seats (different from both the standard and the ClubSport). With the added electrics, the larger wiring loom was used and the Sport variant also got back the two rear seats, again in the cloth material specific to the Sport.
This rare and desirable model of the Porsche 968 has been with the current vendor since the late 90's, it was initially his company car before he purchased privately in 2001. It was used as his daily driver until 2006 when became his weekend car, it was then used more sparingly and on average covered less than 2,000 miles a year. In 2009 the odometer stopped working reading 145,052 and the vendor estimates he has covered less than 10,000 miles since. Most recently the car has been garaged and not used a great deal, however it has still been maintained and MoT'd. Best described as a cosmetic restoration project, we are informed that, mechanically, this example is very good with any required work carried out by Vulcan Motors who have serviced the car since 2007. Before which, regular services were carried out by Northway Porsche or main dealer agents with a total of 17 service stamps. The History file accompanying the car is very good and all service and owner's books are present as is the MoT test certificate valid until November 2019. The Porsche 968 Sport with ClubSport underpinnings are fantastic drivers cars and command strong prices. This is an opportunity to breathe life back into this great car which would be ideal for either track or fast road use or to restore to its former glory. Offered without reserve.
Guide Price £7,000 - £10,000
