The Ferrari 550 Maranello is a two-seater manufactured from 1996 and is powered by a front-engined V12. It shared its platform and 5474cc engine with the 456 but was positioned as the company's high-end model. It featured a luxurious and spacious interior and, unusually for a Ferrari, the boot could accommodate a set of golf clubs. The 550 has a tubular steel frame chassis with light aluminium bodywork. Power steering is variable assist and, to be expected of a car with this performance, disc brakes are fitted all round. Acceleration is an impressive 4.2 seconds 0 to 60mph and top speed a reported 199mph. Ferrari introduced a convertible version of the 550 at the Paris Motor Show in 2000. This Barchetta Pininfarina was a true roadster in every sense of the word and with only 448 Barchettas manufactured worldwide, these highly desirable Ferraris are very sought after by collectors.

This delightful Ferrari is one of only 42 righthand drive examples manufactured and is presented in the delightful colour combination of Bianco Avus with Pelle Verde interior. This 550 emanates exclusivity and with the carbon fibre racing seats and extended carbon fibre inlays, it really feels like a special Ferrari. Having covered only 3,250 miles from new, she comes complete with the original Ferrari book pack and service book as well as a comprehensive file of paperwork and Classiche certification Red book pack. The 550 Barchetta has quickly proven to be a true modern-day collectible, as it combines modern speed and performance with the feel and charisma of a vintage Ferrari. Considering its low mileage and beautiful colour combination, this would make a thrilling and unique addition to any significant collection. For many enthusiasts, there is nothing better than the thrill of driving a V-12 mated to a six-speed manual transmission, combined with the experience of open-air motoring.
