The Fleetwood name dates as far back as 1935 and represented cars with a longer wheelbase than their contemporary Cadillac stable mates. As had been the case since the 1977 model year, there were little more than trim differences between the Fleetwood and the DeVille. The Fleetwood coupé was dropped after the 1986 model year but returned in 1989 as rear-wheel drive, ex-Brougham body. It uses a de-tuned version of the the 5.7 litre, fuel-injected, Corvette-derived LT1 engine pushing out 260bhp and, as such, this top-end Fleetwood was the obvious choice for the chairman of the UK Cadillac Club.
This last full-sized ‘last hurrah’ for the Fleetwood range was offered in a ‘Triple-Black Edition’ showing a full black leather interior with matching black paintwork and additional black trim. The air conditioning works well and the driving experience benefits from a factory-fitted electric sunroof. This represents the last year of the fibre optic lighting system, both front and rear with an MoT test certificate last passed in October 2018. Offered without reserve, this high quality modern classic Cadillac represents extremely good value for money.
