Lot 124 - 1997 Bentley Turbo RL
|Odometer reading||109,000 miles|
|Result||Sold - £4,528|
The Bentley Turbo R initially inherited the turbocharged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo and also sported a retuned suspension and wider tyres on alloy wheels, quite a departure for a Bentley. From the 1987 model year, however, the Turbo R's V8 engine was re-tuned with new Bosch MK-Motronic fuel injection for added torque. Other modifications carried out at the same time included new sports seats and a higher rear axle ratio. Motor Trend called the Turbo R “the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name”. The suspension changes, though seemingly subtle, transformed the heavy car into a real performer and slotted above the Bentley Mulsanne S and Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit and it carved a well-deserved niche in the world of performance saloons.
This Turbo R long wheelbase was first registered on 26th February 1997 and is presented with very good green coachwork with sumptuous cream interior. The vendor states this lovely Turbo R fires up and hums away just as it should. Inside, there is little sign of wear and the cabin exudes all the sense of luxury and exuberance that you would expect from this fantastic model. We are informed that recent expenditure includes new head gaskets with less than a 1,000 miles covered since. Contained within the book pack is a stamped service booklet with the last stamp at 107,570 miles, this is accompanied by various invoices and old MoT test certificates. Offered with an MoT test certificate valid until December 2019, this is a fabulous opportunity to own and enjoy a desirable luxury Bentley.
